Oldest college building in IL

While recently visiting Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL, I learned that it is home to Beecher Hall, the oldest building on a college campus in the state. Construction is generally a good thing at colleges, but we hope this building stands untouched forever. Built in 1829, and still used today, it has served nearly every purpose since it’s construction, even having been a stop on the Underground Railroad in the Civil War area. Modern is great, but historic is greater.
